Two officers from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) rescued a puppy that fell into a drain near a supermarket in Bukit Beruntung, Selangor on Saturday, 8 April

According to New Straits Times, the Hulu Selangor police's mobile patrol unit (MPV) members Sergeant Padrick and Lance Corporal Rodhi were patrolling the area around 6.20pm, when a few bystanders alerted them about a puppy falling into a nearby drain.

The two policemen then rushed to the scene and rescued the animal, before giving it some food.

In a Facebook post by the Hulu Selangor district police headquarters, the police advised the public not to have preconceived impressions regarding the police, in hopes that Malaysians would not be traumatised whenever they come across policemen.

"They think that there's a roadblock and that summonses are being issued. They also think policemen are unfriendly and arrogant," wrote the post.

In the same post, the officers were commended for their good deed, receiving praise from locals all around

Many locals expressed their gratitude for the police officers' thoughtful actions in the comments section of the post.

"They were very helpful and didn't hesitate to help. Hopefully, kind-hearted rescuers have taken it and given it a shelter," wrote a user who was presumably present at the scene of the rescue.
