Hero Dog From Batang Kali Landslide Put To Sleep After Month-Long Battle With Cancer
Blake received nationwide praise after he worked so hard that he passed out from exhaustion during the search and rescue mission following the Batang Kali landslide in December last year.

The seven-year-old English Springer Spaniel was euthanised on Monday, 18 September, after veterinarian Dr Nur Alimah Rahman agreed that it was for the best to put him to sleep due to his rapidly deteriorating health, reported New Straits Times.
Blake hailed from the UK and joined the Fire and Rescue Department's K9 (abbreviation for canine) team in 2017.
He was diagnosed with the stage four cancer last month, and admitted to the Veterinary Faculty University Putra Malaysia (UPM)'s Anjing Kesayangan ward last Thursday, 14 September.
It is understood that the K9 hero did not respond to the medicine and treatment given by the veterinarian, leading to the spread of cancerous cells throughout his body.
Nur Alimah stated that there was no hope of recovery for Blake, and euthanising him could prevent further suffering.

In a statement, the Ministry of Local Government Development said Blake will be remembered by all members of the Fire and Rescue Department
"Blake has greatly contributed to the success of search operations carried out by the Fire and Rescue Deparment throughout the country, including detecting drowning victims at Kampung Kenangan, Selangor; the water surge tragedy at Titi Hayun near Yan, Kedah; and the flooding at Kampung Temelong, Karak in Pahang," said the ministry.
