An adorable six-month-old corgi has been trained to become China's first corgi police dog

The cute dog, whose name is Fu Zai, recently made his debut during the opening day of a police camp in Weifang, Shandong province.

According to China Daily, his debut breaks the stereotype that "little short legs" can't be part of the police force.

A video shared by @chinainsider shows Rottweiler and German Shepherd police dogs with muzzles walking alongside officers.

One officer carries Fu Zai on his back, while the dog's paws dangle around.

Fu Zai has gained popularity online for his adorable smile and unique short legs.

However, more than his charm, he possesses exceptional skills in detecting explosive devices.

As a police reserve dog, Fu Zai has a rigorous schedule with training sessions scheduled every morning and afternoon. These sessions cover various areas, including obedience exercises, bomb searches, and sniffing techniques.

Remarkably, even at just two months old, Fu Zai distinguished himself by outperforming many of his peers during training.

Just four months into training, Fu Zai learned to use his short legs to his advantage, probing directly under cars and easily searching narrow spaces

"His strong environmental adaptability, insensitivity, his desire for possession of items, and his fondness of food are particularly conducive to our training," said Wang Yanan, head of the police dog base of the Weifang public security bureau, as reported by China Daily.

"Police dogs are not only cute, but the trainers have put in a lot of work and effort to train them," Wang said, adding that Fu Zai will be further trained to adapt to complex environments before officially being assigned as a police dog, as he is still naive.
